Films I Think You Should Watch🎞️🍿

Oh I am really not very good at posting every Monday, yikes.

Anyway, in honour of Oscars Week, I am going to be giving you my best movie recommendations. You will either love or hate these, my taste is basic and I am easily pleased, but these are good movies I swear.

Also can I just say at how much I am still crying from all the Oscars content this morning. I think I am writing this as they’re all going hard at the after party, but still. Ke Huy Quan deserves it all and his reunion with Harrison and his speech made me cry. And Brendan Fraser’s comeback. The Oscars actually gave me me hope this year.

Right here are my movies -

Top Gun: Maverick -

If you didn’t see this when it was in theatres then you really missed out. I genuinely went to see this about 5 times. The planes are cool, the cast is hot, I’m not sure what else you need. Also Monica served so hard at the Oscars last night and the cast hyping each other up was so sweet.

Call Me By Your Name -

You’ve never seen CMBYN?! BESTIE WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! I’m kidding, but this is the loveliest, loving, heartbreaking film ever. The cinematography is beautiful and the lines are just perfect. You will have to sit through Armie Hammer for a bit but LIL TIMMY T.

American Psycho -

The ultimate sigma male film. Patrick Bateman is babygirl. I don’t know why I love this film, maybe it’s Christian Bale, but I recommend.

Black Swan -

Another Psychological Thriller. Natalie slays. You will leave wishing your parents forced you to be a ballet dancer. Mika Kunis also turns up which I was very pleased about the first time I watched. Going to see the Swan Lake Ballet is now on my bucketlist.

Whiplash -

Another obsessive character? Yes please. I only watched this the other week for the first time, but I loved it. Funny, but also so good. Also the end is just chef’s kiss.

Gone Girl -

American Psycho for the girlies. We love Amy Dunne she did no wrong. Watch if your in your anti-men era.

How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days -

Rom Coms are my absolute favourite. This is just the biggest comfort film. I love Kate Hudson and I love Matthew “Alright alright alright” McConaughey. Please let me live in this film. I just want to be a New York journalist girly living her best life.

Zootopia -

A family friendly film. So much fun. So cute. Hot fox. A fun little mystery too. All I want is a Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps mini series or buddy cop film.

The Princess Bride -

A CLASSIC. The jokes in this are elite, everything is so good. Also if you have time check out the celebrity version of the Princess Bride on youtube. I have never laughed so hard in my life. Also Pedro Pascal turns up.

The Hate U Give -

THUG LIFE. The hate you give little infants fucks everybody. A film everyone should watch and listen to, carrying a very important message. “It is impossible to be unarmed, when our blackness is the weapon that they fear”.

Captain America: Trilogy -

Yes I’m a Marvel fan, and Steve Rogers slayed his trilogy. If Steve Rogers has no fans I am dead. My sweet Brooklyn boy. Even if you don’t care for Marvel I think his movies are fun, and you can easily watch the first and second one without any prior Marvel knowledge.

Harry Potter: Prisoner of Askaban -

Outing myself as a Marauders fan. This movie loses half a star for the lack of Wolfstar scenes, but they hug so… Alfonso Cuarón made this HP masterpiece then dipped. I love him.

The Imitation Game -

I know the whole film off by heart. It is so beautiful and tragic and I cry every time. Alan Turing deserved so much better. The soundtrack is the best.

Much Ado About Nothing (1993) -

You may be saying boo Shakespeare. First of all how dare you. Second of all, Enemies to Lovers HELLO. Very fun. Benedick and Beatrice are icons. Also Keanu Reeves is in this.

Dead Poets Society -

Another heart wrencher. I did not see what happened coming the first time I watched and I was sat in the car in shock. An absolute classic and a must watch.

Knives Out -

The first one. Ugh I love this film. Daniel Craig, Chris Evans and Ana de Armas??! So good. I love a good murder mystery. Benoit Blanc is a gay icon and I hope we get 100 more Benoit Blanc films.

Black Panther -

Chadwick <3 This movie makes me cry everytime and I just love it so much. You don’t need any prior Marvel knowledge to watch and it is just so so so so good.

We’re The Millers -

So fucking funny. I am down to watch any comedy with Jennifer Anniston.

Set It Up -

The world needs more Glen Powell and Zoey Deutch rom coms. Lowkey Enemies to Lovers with a bit of friends in the middle. Double rom com. A rare modern rom com perfectly executed. Also watch out because I know Glen has a new rom com coming.

Don’t Look Up -

God I feel like we’re living in this film already. Anyway a good laugh but also very thought provoking and it sort of scares me a little. The one star studded film that is actually good. Also JLaw and Timmy T slay.

The Menu -

If you like Midsommar you will love this. It’s funny but not Funny haha, funny weird. Don’t think I’ll be heading to a Michelin Star restaurant now though.

Okay I think this is a substantial list. A basic, but a solid list. I feel like most people have seen these films, but if you haven’t and you ended up enjoying one, then I am very happy.

My Letterbox is linked below, I occasionally write a slightly funny review.

Happy Monday everyone <33

Also if you have time check out some of last nights award footage, because they deserve it all.
